Soft Matter & Molecular Biophysics Group

Who are we? What do we do?

We are a group of researchers who joined in May 2009 to form the Soft Matter and Molecular Biophysics Group, based on the University of Santiago de Compostela. The core of the group is formed by Juan M. Ruso, Pedro Vázquez Verdes and Ángel Piñeiro with the valuable support of several students and a large number of collaborators from different institutions.

We have participated in a wide range of projects aimed to the study of macromolecules and supramolecular systems including proteins, peptides, (oligo)saccharides, lipids, surfactants, and other different molecules with biological activity. Our research is based on a variety of physicochemical methods including different kind of spectroscopy, microscopy, calorimetry and computational techniques.

We are open to collaborate with both academy and industry. If you are interested in our research, please, feel free to contact us.
